Just days after mathematician and family patriarch Isaac Severy dies of an apparent suicide, his adopted granddaughter Hazel, owner of a struggling Seattle bookstore, receives a letter from him by mail. Happily, there isn’t much math in this book but a wonderful journey of a family coming to terms with their late father’s last wish. A story that has the word “equation” in the title reminds me of Mark Watney in The Martian and how much math I had to do. At first, I was a little skeptical about this book. ![]()
